Bitcoin Cash at 3: Still Very Excited Every Day, By Akane Yokoo

Akane Yokoo is well-known in the Bitcoin Cash community for her role in promoting meetups. Her Tokyo, Japan gatherings are world famous. Crypto-savvy travelers make it a point to visit Yokoo at whatever local Tokyo establishment, surrounded by like-minded people wanting to know more about peer-to-peer electronic cash.

Our Crypto Meatspace column often documented her work, either directly in Tokyo or showing those influenced by her enthusiasm. And though coronavirus has put a damper on in-person meetups, that hasn’t stopped Yokoo from pivoting to the virtual arena. In fact, she’s pooled her talents together with Eléonore Blanc and Cindy Wang to form Satoshi’s Angels.

It’s an effort to “gather the most powerful community builders for the adoption of peer-to-peer electronic cash. With our experience, our network and passion we are committed to growing crypto adoption. Our mission is to inspire the general public to crypto and to bridge crypto services and communities from the East to the West,” the group’s website explains. And more recently that work has also included vital translation efforts and an AMA with node developers that grabbed some 9,000 participants.

Satoshi’s Angels along with Bitcoin Cash City are organizing a livestream to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of BCH, scheduled for 18:00 – 00:00 Hong Kong; 12:00 – 18:00 Amsterdam; and 03:00 – 09:00 Los Angeles on August 1st, 2020. Satoshi’s Angels are also holding a photo/meme contest for 1.25 BCH in prizes for the winners who show “what August 1st represents to you, how you’re celebrating or how Bitcoin Cash can change the world!”
