BCH Halving in 20 Days
According to CoinGecko, Bitcoin Cash is 20 days, 15 hours, and 30 minutes (as of publication) from reaching block 630,000. This triggers what’s known as The Halvening, or halving of the BCH block reward. It will go from the current 12.5 BCH per block as found by miners, to 6.25 per block — a significant decrease baked-in to the inflation schedule.
The original projection was sometime in late May of this year, around the 24th, roughly matching that of its parent coin, BTC (BCH is about 4,900 blocks ahead, however). But that was later revised to early May for BCH, and it now appears to be less than three weeks away, all things being equal, April 7th, 2020. Analysts are divided as to its immediate impacts.
The inflation rate, capped at 21 million, is considered a feature of BCH’s hard money properties. In theory, less BCH released after April 7th, 2020 should cause a price spike upward, assuming demand remains constant or is even spurred on psychologically by the notion of ever-less coins circulating. Some believed the early pump of BCH in January and part of February of this year anticipated the halving, following conventional wisdom.
And then the market tanked. This new territory is compounded by the fact BCH hasn’t gone through a halving in its short history. It’s also just weeks ahead of the Bitcoin Cash network upgrade, scheduled for May 15th, 2020, which suddenly became more controversial with late January’s introduction of the Infrastructure Funding Plan for Bitcoin Cash (IFP). Many enthusiasts are watching carefully, wondering at the delicate balance of security and hash rate, miner profitability, and speculative price.

What you don't see is that the exchange itself was negotiated and executed peer-to-peer via on-chain messages. Blockchain itself is the order book.
