Social Media Giants Face Congress on Censorship Issue
Google, Facebook, and Twitter will have to face the Congress next week in a hearing for what some have called ongoing censorship inside their platforms. The director of Facebook public policies, Neil Potts, has been confirmed for the hearing called, “Stifling Free Speech: Technological Censorship and the Public Discourse,” and other Google and Twitter personnel were also confirmed to assist.
Zhao Dong, Chinese Billionaire: Bitcoin Price will Go Up to $50K
Zhao Dong, legendary Chinese cryptocurrency businessman, has made some bold predictions for the price of bitcoin. He declared that bitcoin can go up to $50K after next year’s halving. However, he also declared that this year, pre-halving prices can shoot up to $6K or $7K easily, something that could very well be possible due to the rally the cryptomarket experienced last week.
HUT 8 Canadian Crypto Mining Company Hit With Layoffs
According to a report from CBC News, Hut 8, a Canadian mining company, laid off dozens of employees even due to the rise of electricity prices and the influence of a bear market that lasted all 2018. The company did not detail how many employees were laid off exactly, but an employee declared that “half of the data center ops crews were let go.” Hut 8 has 85 data centers in the country.
Bosch Unveils Blockchain Refrigerator
Talk about blockchain everything, Bosch, the German manufacturer, will launch a “blockchain powered” refrigerator in partnership with Wien Energie, Australia’s leading power company. The fridge will include advanced features like power tracking and smart contracts, but the companies have not yet detailed the native currency of the fridge or the native blockchain. It will also feature an app that lets users monitor the appliance.

Peter Brandt, a veteran trader 71 years old, who called the Bitcoin price decline that happened last year, is now convinced a bull run could take bitcoin to $50K in the next two years. “The analogs are holding remarkably well and based on those analog studies, I think cryptos now will go back into a parabolic bull market,” Brandt remarked while still saying the market could retest lows before shooting up.
