Overstock Will Pay Its Taxes with Bitcoin in Ohio
Overstock, online retailer, announced today it will pay some of their taxes with bitcoin in the state of Ohio. Ohio is one of the few states that lets companies pay some kinds of taxes with cryptocurrency. The company will pay their commercial activity taxes (CAT) through the state portal using Bitpay. This makes Overstock the first company to pay taxes with bitcoin.
Ethereum Smart Contracts Mostly Exchange Data
A new article states almost 90% of smart contracts on the Ethereum platform do not exchange actual money. Most of these contracts just negotiate or exchange data in a conditional way, something that could put the future of the platform in dire straits because such functions still cost GAS to do, and monetization of these transactions could be difficult to justify.
Almost 20% of all dApps are Abandoned
According to information taken from the site State of the Dapps, almost 20% of the whole dApp universe from all platforms have more than a year without a development commit. This is particularly worse with EOS dApps, as the data shows more than 60% of the accounts are inactive. So much for regarding dApps as the next big thing associated with crypto.
The Venezuelan Petro Has Several Prices Now
The so-called Venezuelan cryptocurrency, the Petro, has several prices now according to government institutions. The price from the Venezuelan Central Bank shows the Petro is still 9,000 VES, while another state-owned bank has the Petro at a price of 38,000 VES, so no one knows which is the real value now. Some claim this could be a government leak in advance of another devaluation, but it has caused confusion.
Binance Declared No Bribes Taken From Ripple
After being publicly accused in social media of taking bribes from Ripple to change the order in which the altcoin pairs appear, Binance denied having taken any money from Ripple. Leah Li, Global PR Manager, stated, “Ripple has not made any donation or paid any fee.”
