Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey was invited to a meeting with president Trump to talk about the “the health of the public conversation on Twitter,” according to Vijaya Gadde, Twitter’s head of legal, policy, trust and safety. Dorsey and his company Twitter have been criticized for censorship bias against conservatives, and also for taking a non-intervention stance with Trump’s tweets clearly violating their ToS. Trump himself declared: “Lots of subjects discussed regarding their platform, and the world of social media in general. Look forward to keeping an open dialogue!”
Societe Generale Issues $112 Million Ethereum Based Bond
The French financial services giant Societe Generale issued more than $100 million dollars in bonds created with support of the Ethereum blockchain. The bonds, issued as a token on top of Ethereum, have gotten a AAA rating from Moody’s, stating the use of blockchain streamlines many operations needed to issue bonds in the normal way.
Samsung Creating Own Blockchain
According to a report from Coindesk, Samsung could be developing its own blockchain with the intention of issuing its own cryptocurrency, dubbed “Samsung Coin” by the outlet. The blockchain would be based on Ethereum, and it could be a hybrid private/public blockchain, but this information has not yet been confirmed.
TD Ameritrade Tests Bitcoin Trading

TD Ameritrade, an online brokerage company that has more than 11 million clients and manages more than $1 trillion in assets, is testing BTC trading on Nasdaq via its platform, according to a tweet from Cryptopolis, a trading analyst. The company declined to make any statements on the subject, but the report was deemed real after Charlie Lee, the creator of Litecoin, also stated he had seen test trading pairs on the platform.
BitFury Launches Bitcoin Mining Fund
BitFury, a global mining company, and Final Frontier, a Swiss investment firm, partnered to launch a new mining fund in Switzerland, regulated by Liechtenstein’s financial regulator. BitFury informed the fund will invest in mining sites featuring lower taxes on power to make mining more profitable. Final Frontier stated that with actual prices, high energy efficient mining breakeven levels are at $3.5K-$4.5K, ensuring a $1K profit per mined bitcoin.
Xthinner Protocol Stats Shared
Jonathan Toomim, the creator of the Xthinner protocol, shared some of the results he has found while using it to compress mainnet blocks. The compression is really amazing: for all of the tests run, he managed to get more than 99% of compression even with all the data sent by the protocol, being comparable with graphene on small blocks. Pinterest Employee Launches Art Ownership startup MakersPlace
The first employee of Pinterest has launched MakersPlace, a startup that allows creators to claim ownership of their artworks by issuing a token confirming its authenticity and originality. The company, which got $2 million in funding on its seed round, seeks to capitalize on the growth of the online art sales, and also help creators to protect and monetize their digital works using blockchain as a tool.
