Nancy Pelosi Challenged by Crypto Advocate Agatha Bacelar
US Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, recently announced historic impeach proceedings against President Trump. While she battles in DC, she’s going to have another fight in her own district. Cryptocurrency advocate Agatha Bacelar is running for Pelosi’s seat. According to her site, Agatha Bacelar “understands the importance of this breakthrough technology, and that the U.S. cannot be left behind.”
Bitcoin Trading Spikes in Hong Kong With Protests
LocalBitcoins, a peer to peer exchange, has seen an all-time high increase of bitcoin trading in Hong Kong this week, coinciding with a rise in tensions between protesters and the local police. In fact, the first incident involving the use of firearms against protestors occurred this week, when an 18-year-old student was shot. LocalBitcoins reached $2 million in bitcoin traded, a record for the region.
Grayscale Issues Bitcoin Cash Report
Grayscale, one of the largest cryptocurrency investing companies, issued a Bitcoin Cash report as a part of its Building Block series. According to their introduction, “Bitcoin Cash is one of the most successful hard forks of Bitcoin. Like its predecessor, Bitcoin Cash is a decentralized, peer-to-peer (P2P) digital currency and payment network supported by an open-source blockchain protocol.”
BitPay to Add XRP Support for Payments
BitPay, the number one cryptocurrency payment processor, announced a partnership with Xpring, the developer arm of Ripple, to add support for the XRP cryptocurrency to ease payments and remittances. “BitPay customers are leveraging the promise of blockchain payment technology and with XRP can offer a payment option that is fast, cost-effective and scalable,” said Sean Rolland, Director of Product at BitPay.
Edge Wallet Users in Europe Can Buy Bitcoin Without KYC
Paul Puey, founder and CEO of Edge Wallet, introduced a new feature: the ability for European customers to buy up to 5,000 euros worth of bitcoin without having to submit to KYC identification procedures. It’s in part thanks to Bity, a regulated, Switzerland-based cryptocurrency exchange that serves customers using Edge. Through Bity, Edge lets customers enjoy annoyance-free crypto buying at a very low rate of 0.65%. The only requirement is have an European bank account.

Circle, the cryptocurrency payment company behind the USDC stablecoin, launched a program called USDC Rewards, that gives a percentage of revenue to users for holding their stablecoin on Coinbase. This solution will let users earn 1.25 APY with no further action required. While there are more enticing staking options from other providers, the name Coinbase could be the key behind this action to gain holders of USDC.
