Anonymous to Give $75 Million in Bitcoin to Privacy Initiatives

Anonymous

The Unknown Fund, a new grant program funded by the hacktivist group Anonymous, will give $75 million dollars in Bitcoin to startups and initiatives that support the idea of anonymity. The press release states, “Preference will be given to the following niches: protection of personal data, tools for anonymity, cryptocurrency and blockchain,” so part of these funds can land into privacy-oriented cryptocurrency projects. Tt remains to be seen if this is really an Anonymous initiative or just a stunt.

Chinese Soldiers Could be Rewarded With Cryptocurrency

Anonymous

The military newspaper of the People’s Liberation Army, PLA Daily, suggested using cryptocurrency tokens to reward Chinese soldiers according to their performance. A recent article exploring how blockchain could be used in a military context to “award or deduct tokens according to one’s daily performance and thus generate an objective assessment would effectively energize the human resource management.” Other possible uses of crypto the paper detailed were information encryption and keeping trainee registries.

DeFi Platform Compound Raises $25 Million to Expand

Compound, a cryptocurrency decentralized lending finance platform, raised $25 million from Andreessen Horowitz, a tech venture capital firm. The founder of Compound, Robert Leshner, declared these resources will be used to make the technology available to more users. The goal of Compound is to get integrated into exchanges like Coinbase or Kraken and to let less tech oriented people lend their crypto and earn interest. Its service will be coming to apps and companies in 2020.

Unstoppable Domains Launches $1 Million Grant Program

Unstoppable Domains, the startup behind the introduction of domains on the blockchain, is launching a $1 million grant program for wallets and services. “The cryptocurrency community is quickly adopting blockchain domains, but we want to make it even easier for apps to integrate blockchain domains. This grant program can help wallets, browsers and other apps embrace them sooner,” said their CEO, Matt Gould. Blockchain domains are useful tools to receive cryptocurrency payments and set up uncensorable websites.
