It’s safe to write the state of cryptocurrency mining under its current rubric is a giant debate among enthusiasts, developers, and investors. Projects are scrambling to deal with reward halvings, hash rates, governance issues, consensus mechanisms, not to mention hardware upgrades and the looming specter of electricity costs and environmental impacts.

Maybe there isn’t a better way to get a sense of what’s happening within mining than through Bitmain, the leader in cryptocurrency mining technology and a top-ten fabless chipmaker. The company is now 6 years old, ancient by industry standards, and has grown to include projects involving cryptocurrency, blockchain, and even artificial intelligence (AI). It also, of course, operates the largest cryptocurrency mining pools worldwide such as Antpool.com and BTC.com. Those looking for industry insight will undoubtedly gather at Bitmain’s 2019 WDMS, slated for early October in Frankfurt, Germany. There, the company promises to also release its first Big Data Analysis Report of Global Mining Farms.
