TL;DR: So much development is happening in the cryptocurrency ecosystem. It can be difficult to keep up. Crypto Dev Digest (CDD) is a CoinSpice attempt to document all the coolness abounding.
Crypto Dev Digest: Jeton Lib Bitcore Extension
CoinText’s co-founder Vin Armani posted, “Here’s the early release of jeton-lib, an extension of the Bitcore library for Bitcoin Cash that allows very easy creation of multi-party on-chain escrow transactions using OP_CHECKDATASIG.”
Implemented during a recent Bitcoin Cash (BCH) upgrade, that piece of code has unleashed a wave of possibilities. Developer Chris Troutner agreed. “Wow. Making blind, non-custodial escrow more widely available and easy to plug into web apps is going to be a game changer. Just look at what http://local.bitcoin.com has done with it,” he tweeted. “I’m trying to be lowkey about the most immediate and disruptive application for this,” Armani later added. “1. I put up money; 2. You put up money; 3. Based on the result of some event in the future, one of us is able to collect all of the money; 100% peer-to-peer and secured by BCH.”
Armani created a GitHub to help flesh out those ideas. “Bitcoin Cash has script functionality,” he reiterated, “such as OP_CHECKDATASIG which is unique among Bitcoin forks. This functionality allows Bitcoin Cash users to participate in on-chain, non-custodial escrow transactions (and more). Jeton Lib extends the popular bitcore-lib-cash library to allow for easy creation of transactions which leverage the powerful capabilities of Bitcoin Cash.”
Crescent Cash Changes Coming
Big plans in the works for Crescent Cash. Still brainstorming, but these changes will most likely need a complete rewrite and redesign.
