Coinbase Paid $30K for Discovering a Critical Bug
Not even the biggest exchanges are exempt from critical vulnerabilities. Coinbase paid $30K to an individual who discovered a bug. The bug was filed using a vulnerability disclosure program in HackerOne, a platform that offers bounties for these disclosures. The nature of the vulnerability was not disclosed, but due to the large reward paid, it must have been quite important.

Justin Sun, the creator of Tron, and Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, had a little skirmish on Twitter. Sun took remarks from Buterin about the Bitcoin Network and assumed they were meant to criticized his newly released BitTorrent token. So, Sun took old tweets where Buterin praised BitTorrent and presented them as an endorsement. Buterin quickly mocked Sun with a joke coin named”Entropy Token” directed to “twitter coin shills” who had taken Buterin’s statements out of context.
Coinmama Hacked, 450,000 Users Effected
The popular exchange Coinmama was hacked recently, losing 450,000 email addresses and their hashed passwords as a part of a larger attack that impacted other sites as well. The site quickly disclosed the breach, and advised most of their users to change passwords immediately. However, this information could have also been exploited used to retrieve funds from users without 2FA protection. This was related to a PostgreSQL vulnerability, and Coinmama is investigating the issue.
Argentina Settles Exports Deal with Bitcoin Payment
Argentina settled its first export with bitcoin, having sold pesticides and fumigation products to Paraguay while receiving the payment in crypto. The deal involved receiving $7,100 worth of bitcoin and using Bitex, a payment services provider, as an intermediary to convert the paid cryptocurrency into Argentinian plesos. This deal could serve as an eye opener for other governments business to leverage crypto as a tool.
Bitrefill Add 50 New Gift Card Options
Bitrefill, a popular online platform that lets you top up your phone, pay bills, and buy gift cards from several retailers by paying with crypto, has recently added 50 new gift card options. Among these new options are Under Armour, Aeropostale, Tesco, and Nike, broadening their current selection of options in the US.
Thugs Coordinate Crypto Theft in PUBG Chat
24 people were arrested for coordinating theft of a cryptocurrency company in Turkey, after it was discovered thieves were setting up the caper during chat on the the popular online gaming platform, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG). The individuals hacked the a company’s address, stealing more than 2.4 million dollars in cryptocurrency. Turkish police acted quickly and raided the operation identifying the suspects. Six of them will face trial.
