PODCAST Bitcoin.com CEO Stefan Rust on Jihan Wu, Roger Ver, Bitcoin Cash, and Crypto’s Future

TL;DR: Stefan Rust is the new CEO of Bitcoin.com. He’s taking a spot previously occupied by a giant personality in the cryptocurrency space, helming one of the best-known brands in the ecosystem. We catch up with him to talk about the peer-to-peer electronic cash space, figures like Jihan Wu and Roger Ver, and what the future might hold. Bitcoin.com CEO Stefan Rust

Stefan Rust is on it. After I casually invited him to find time for CoinSpice, he instantly created a private chat and pinged his assistant to set it up. Two sentences later, and the recording was booked. That might read unremarkable, but, I have to explain how rare that is — corporate tendencies are toward bureaucracy and clout-chasing, placing their “people” between themselves and media.

Not Rust. He is no-nonsense and can-do. So damn refreshing. And it shows beyond my little anecdote above. Have you paid attention to Bitcoin.com lately? They’re making headline after headline, launching exchanges, inking deals with HTC and key development companies — too many to keep track of. Rust would eschew the credit, but the uptick in getting things done over at the marquee crypto brand portal is very, very noticeable.

He was born in Hong Kong, and I felt it a natural place to start, asking him about the climate there in the great financial hub of Asia amid protests. Rust is candid without being overly partisan or political. He applies his strategic, consensus-oriented thinking to such situations and listeners will hear his passion come through.

We chat as well about his interview “get,” bagging Bitmain co-founder Jihan Wu for a rare video interview (I am still jealous). It’s an easy transition onto the Bitcoin.com roadmap, his personal philosophy, and the differences and similarities he has with the company’s famous founder, Roger Ver. For fans of peer-to-peer cash, this is a quick and fairly intimate first look at a major decision-maker in the crypto space. I think you too will be impressed by Stefan Rust.
