PODCAST Wrapping Our Heads Around the Infrastructure Funding Plan for Bitcoin Cash

Bitcoin Cash

TL;DR: The Crypto Hustle With Eléonore Blanc presents its third episode, and this go-around we’re talking about arguably the most contentious topic in peer-to-peer electronic cash, BTC.TOP founder Jiang Zhuoer’s Infrastructure Funding Plan for Bitcoin Cash (IFP). The debate changes almost daily, and we try and sort it out. Not easy. Wrapping Our Heads Around the Infrastructure Funding Plan

The Infrastructure Funding Plan for Bitcoin Cash galvanized peer-to-peer electronic cash enthusiasts. At its root is a 5% coinbase block reward redirection to whitelisted addresses, Bitcoin ABC, BCHD, Electron Cash, and a General Fund, coded into the scheduled May 15, 2020 network upgrade. Whether they’re for or against the IFP, everyone is talking about it. Sides are forming and it does appear the vast majority of the West is for sure against its adoption. What is harder to determine is if that’s the case in the East, specifically with China, or even if it matters.

Eléonore Blanc is back to try and make sense of the debate. She’s enthralled by the Game Theory of it all, noting stakeholders and those who are championing alternative proposals, and how to determine governance. Assuming the IFP goes through for the May 15, 2020 scheduled network upgrade, what is the best way to determine its finer points: distribution of funds, accountability, transparency?

We also discuss the nature of who decides. Who owns the protocol? Is it a public good? Are miners and mining pools free to order developers to redirect block rewards? Does hash power determine what aspect of the ecosystem is the ultimate decision-maker? And on and on. Neither of us claims to solve or satisfactorily answer these issues, but Blanc makes some news in this episode. She’s working on bringing some of the key players together in early May.
