Proof of Social Media: Devs Insist BSV Miners, Nodes Have a Child Porn Problem

TL;DR: Proof of Social Media (PoSM) is a CoinSpice quick take on the ecosystem’s temperature through the lens of YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Reddit, Twitter, and wherever else sentiment can be observed. Leading developers continue to insist Bitcoin SV (BSV) miners and node service providers might be liable for child porn uploaded to the BSV chain; 10% of adult Filipinos are using crypto for payments; Satoshi Nakamoto mystery solved by CSW fans; Gemini’s advertisement campaign takes to the streets for coffee; BCH has a new fan, and Cobra talks store of value.

Devs Insist BSV Miners, Nodes Have a Child Porn Problem

OpenBazaar lead developer Chris Pacia posted to Twitter about recent changes to the BSV protocol highlighted by proponents who consider it a feature. Pacia believes it to be a bug, one that allows for such problems as imagery considered child pornography to be uploaded comparatively easier on the BSV chain.

The just below tweet was in response to a prominent BSV application, Money Button, and its founder clarifying their end of the issue, which, ironically could actually put the project into more hot water if Vin Armani is to be believed.

CoinSpice covered BSV woes of this sort recently, and reaction from BSV enthusiasts has been filled with anger and threats at anyone who dares point out basic facts. CoinText co-founder Vin Armani noted, “It’s actually fucking tragic. The irony. Every BSV miner is now a distributor of child porn.”

Armani continued, “It’s actually every node. Syncing your node to the BSV blockchain is the legal equivalent (if this is child porn we are talking about) of seeding images on BitTorrent. Bad look. Interpol time.” Those insisting something similar happened on Bitcoin Core a while ago and nothing came of it, Armani stressed, “This is different. A criminal prosecution will hinge on past knowledge and intent. Because these files are in a complete readable form (not broken across multiple txs), anyone who is actively filtering certain txs while still running a node is showing both knowledge and intent.”

“It’s two very simple questions if this is child porn: Did you KNOWINGLY distribute child porn? Can the prosecutor prove you knew you were in possession of the content and, once you knew, still chose to distribute it? It’s the active filtering Ryan mentions that will screw them,” Armani explained. He’s been more right than wrong of last, and putting heads in the sand won’t help matters.

Sarah Olsen, head of biz dev out at Gemini Trust, hosts a new advertising campaign to educate about crypto and push the exchange’s desire to fully mainstream the phenomenon. In this episode, she speaks with a gentleman who asks, ultimately, what use is a cryptocurrency unless it has some kind of utility — an obvious question too few ask.
