Andreas Brekken, founder and CEO of Shitcoin.com, seems to be everywhere. A frequent guest of podcasts, YouTube channels, he’s also a writer and software developer. With cryptos raising billions through initial coin offerings (ICOs), claiming disruption, etc. he asks, “But does it work? Does anyone install and run the software?” He actively tests their assertions, and the results are interesting and biting. He’s also an investor and really compelling thinker.
Shitcoin.com Founder and CEO Andreas Brekken is Guest on Milk from Thailand
Brekken is one of the most respected voices in the space, and he’s earned it. He’s an OG, going back as far as at least 2011. He’s worked for feisty crypto exchange Kraken as a software engineer in the early days, watching the ecosystem grow and change. His perspective is unique, to put it mildly.
He’s involved in dozens of projects, investing and contributing. Even while he and C. Edward Kelso spoke, keys being nibbled at can be heard in the background. He just doesn’t stop.
His most notorious project is Shitcoin.com, a really interesting concept. Brekken takes the better known, more hyped coins and applications and clients, giving them a thorough test drive and publishing the results. Most everyone finds him fair and objective.
DASH v. Monero
Kelso and Brekken have a wide-ranging discussion about a myriad of topics: his early days, working for Kraken, living the life of a wage cuck, changing citizenship, Calvin Ayre, the hash war, and even peace between BTC and BCH camps.
He’s absolutely obsessed with privacy and crypto. It would seem to be uncontroversial, except as more businesses in the space seek government regulation the more they’re openly against privacy. Brekken is not having it.
As the discussion moves along, Kelso asks which projects of Shitcoin.com pushed Brekken, surprised him. He mentions two, DASH and Monero, and listeners are going to be surprised too at his answers.
