TOP CRYPTO TWEETS of the WEEK: GitHub Blocks Iranians, Litecoin a ‘Scam,’ Losing 5M Indians

TL;DR: CoinSpice scours the Twittersphere to shine light upon the top crypto tweets of the week. GitHub blocks Iranians, caving into US foreign policy while BTC maximalist Luke Dash, Jr. goes after Litecoin. The world is about to lose at least 5 million Indian cryptocurrency enthusiasts. Making fun of $10,000 price calls, and a young soldier in the Crypto Twitter Wars salutes the fallen.

#5 GitHub Blocks Iranians

US-based software development host, GitHub, recently acquired by Microsoft, is reportedly targeting users from Iran. Developer Hamed Saeedi took to Medium, explaining his plight. “GitHub blocked my account and they think I’m developing nuclear weapons,” he claimed.

Saeedi later tweeted, the company “blocked all Iranian accounts without any prior notice and they don’t give us a chance to download our data,” showing GitHub also refused to send along the blocked worked for future reference. His effort, along with outrage from the Iranian community, did finally garner a direct answer from the company.

GitHub’s policy is to follow US law, including policies involving trade. Iran, of course, falls under that purview, and is currently engaged in a protracted and increasingly bellicose back-and-forth with the present US administration. What is clear: Iranian developers having little to do with either side are caught in the middle. ‏
